Utah has allowed permitless concealed carry since 2021 for adults 21 and older who can legally own a firearm. The optional Utah concealed firearm permit is issued by the Bureau of Criminal Identification within the Department of Public Safety, and a provisional permit is available from age 18. Many residents keep a permit for carry in other states and on some school grounds. Secure areas and posted locations remain off limits.
Utah's 2026 general-season buck deer hunts are archery starting August 15, muzzleloader from September 23 to October 1, and any legal weapon from October 17 to 25. A few units also have an early any legal weapon hunt in early October. General-season permits are drawn by unit, and limited-entry hunts take more points. Rifles, muzzleloaders and archery gear are legal on the right hunt. Report your harvest within 30 days of the season.
